Recent court rulings provide some new insight into the interface between bankruptcy and environmental law pertaining to certain risks associated with a predecessor’s pre-bankruptcy impacts and continuing violations. These decisions may provide comfort to the buyer of an entity with a troubled past. In addition, the environmental due diligence practice is confronting regulatory development related to Greenhouse Gas disclosure/reporting, accounting rules for business combinations, and Audit Policy provisions tailored to allow new owners to start off with a clean slate. School Essay Contest.
This year's
contest, “Energy
and the Environment: Changing our Communities, our Schools and our
World,”
provides high school students in grades 9-12 the chance to share their
thoughts on environmental issues. The deadline
for essay submissions is on Earth Day – Thursday, April 22,
2010. Students have the opportunity to engage in research and the writing process for any aspect of the essay subject area and will continue to support A&WMA's environmental education environmental education outreach efforts. The contest also gives students the chance to compete for prize money and the opportunity to be recognized for their work at the honors and awards ceremony at A&WMA’s 103rd Annual Conference & Exhibition (ACE) in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, June 22-25, 2010. In addition, we need judges for the essay contest. The time commitment will be minimal. We encourage broad representation of judges from an international organization.
