Environmental Due Diligence:  2010 and Beyond
  • When:  Thursday, May 6, 2010 – 8:00-11:00 a.m.
  • Where:  135 S. LaSalle Street – 43rd Floor, Chicago, Illinois
After a precipitous decline in early 2009, the mergers and acquisitions market is beginning to show signs of recovery. And, following the worst recession in history, some buyers are shopping for bargains amongst struggling companies, in part attracted by reduced or truncated liability of the target entity following emergence from bankruptcy.

Recent court rulings provide some new insight into the interface between bankruptcy and environmental law pertaining to certain risks associated with a predecessor’s pre-bankruptcy impacts and continuing violations. These decisions may provide comfort to the buyer of an entity with a troubled past.

In addition, the environmental due diligence practice is confronting regulatory development related to Greenhouse Gas disclosure/reporting, accounting rules for business combinations, and Audit Policy provisions tailored to allow new owners to start off with a clean slate.

Registration fee:  $50 for A&WMA Members / $95 for non-members (includes one year memb.)
$15 for government employees and students.

 Contact to register.
